Transcript Of Records

The Transcript of Records (TOR) is a consolidated list of all the programme courses and academic grades of your Bachelor’s degree. Your Undergraduate Degree’s Institute provides this document on request. This is one of the crucial documents while applying for a Master’s programme.

Trivia

  • The Transcript of Records is distinct from a Grade Card.
  • Contact your Undergraduate University/Institute and request them for your academic Transcripts.
  • Request for as many Transcripts as the number of colleges/universities you will be planning to apply for.
  • Your institute may charge you a nominal fee depending on the number of TORs you have ordered.
  • A general Transcript in the Republic of Ireland has the signature of a College/University official on the College/University letterhead and has the official seal.
  • The Transcripts must mention your full name, the Institution/University’s full name, the domain in which you completed your Bachelor’s degree and the Board of Education (if any).
  • Apart from this, the transcripts must display information on all courses you have taken, respective grades received, all honours achieved by the student (not necessary always).
  • The TOR must also indicate the overall grade. Preferably, it should also mention the credit system used (e.g. total credits obtained = 200) and the grading system (The maximum and the minimum grades required to pass and fail).
  • If your Transcripts do not show the credit system used, request your University for an official document stating the Credit system for the courses and the Grading system used for the final grading.
  • Usually, you will be sending the Transcripts along with the documents of your application. But for a few universities, you may have to upload the scanned copy of the Transcript.
  • Your Bachelor’s University/ Institute might also be needed to post the Transcripts themselves in a closed envelope. Check the requirements of the Master’s University well in advance so that you can inform your Bachelor’s Institute/University for the same.
  • Universities/Colleges may not accept the notarised copies of your Transcripts. It is always recommended to send the original copies.
